Improving the process of discovering problems, and taking action is at the core of WebMapSolutions mission. Today there are new ways to learn about problems: the what and the where, in near real time. We have built 2 core solutions taking advantage of new map-based technologies.
Problem Reported – Social Media & Text Mapping
a) GeoAppSmart for Problem Discovery – Social media feeds provide a very valuable, near-real time way to discover problems. Our problem discovery web app, built with our GeoWeb framework, maps social media feeds: flooding due to a burst water main, power outages, citizens trapped due to a natural disaster, chronic water pollution pouring from a factory. Through filtering by keyword we can show on a map the what and the where of problems using social media. We have also integrated into the app the ability for citizens to send text messages which are then mapped.
Problem Found – Inspections & Audits
b) GeoAppSmart for Inspections – Need to collect the where and the what of an inspection? Our inspection app, built using our GeoCross framework, is a fully customizable, map-based mobile app. Working both online and offline, we provide a simple map-linked form which we customize based on your needs. The information collected by the app is stored centrally in the cloud, and the app generates a printable form which summarizes the inspection with signatures.
