We are helping companies uphold their corporate responsibilities throughout the supply chain. Our focused solutions help companies safeguard people and places.
Raw materials for company products are often sourced through opaque and complex supply chains in locations far from where the final product is sold. Investigating and verifying the myriad of entities in their supply chain can be very difficult even for the most well-intentioned companies. But the lack of insight resulting from the outsourcing of production can be highly problematic.
How can a company reasonably, and effectively, ensure that its supply chain is responsible and ethical? This problem caught our attention at WebMapSolutions. We have been building a series of complementary solutions to help companies overcome these supply chain challenges.
Plan & Prepare
Everything starts with knowing the where and the what of your supply chain. That means mapping your supply chain: where are your factories and what is being produced in each factory. GeoAppSmart for Data Collection is a map-based solution which not only allows you to visualize your supply chain, it also provides a mechanism for collecting and editing supply chain related data. The web app is designed for field-based staff, and works in both online and offline modes.
Discover & Take Action- Strategic Audits
With your supply chain mapped it can next be audited. Audits or inspections can identify the telltale signs of bad working practices, poor conditions and environmental damage. GeoAppSmart for Inspections is a super flexible mobile app, built with our GeoCross framework, which provides a new approach to conducting factory inspections. It is map-based and form-driven, providing inspector’s an easy way to discover and report problems.
Discover & Take Action – Empower People
How do companies discover problems in their supply chain? Regular audits and inspections can help. WebMapSolutions have been looking for easy ways to provide everybody the ability to report problems. The popularity of mobile phones and social media means there are now ways to empower everybody to share information and images on issues. GeoAppSmart for Problem Discovery, built with our GeoWeb framework, maps social media feeds filtered by keywords: pollution, unsafe working conditions etc. We have also integrated into the app the ability for anybody to send text messages which are then mapped. Finally a low cost way to provide real-time data on problems affecting people and places.
