Couldn’t agree more. We see it all too often in our industry where organizations are unwilling to leave their comfort zone to meet the needs and expectations of their users. Far too many are adhering to the “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mantra.
Keith is spot on. GIS and geospatial is beset by ‘old, safe thinking”. Driven by ‘politics and culture”. I don’t think this is unique to our industry. But I do see it holding things back. Exciting times are ahead. New ways to answer challenging ‘where’ questions. But we are at times getting in our own way. Time to move forward.
