The release of the new Playbook Simulator is very exciting. Finally we can start testing our mapping solutions on mobile devices with useable screen sizes. Configuring and developing for the Playbook simulator is an ever changing landscape, as with all newly released tools. So keep an eye on the most up to date articles. Most notably Renaun Erickson’s blog.
Flex Playbook simulator and OpenScales
I have been trying to test OpenScales on the Playbook simulator. Ideally I’d like to run this type of application on the simulator. But starting small. I took a sample application called Payment service written by Renaun Erickson of Adobe. I simply commented out Renaun’s code and replaced it with some lines from an OpenScales which I know runs in a browser (all necessary swc’s are in the libs directory). See the code below.
< ?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
The results? A blank white screen in the simulator.
This is not going to be quite so easy. I’ll need to dig a bit deeper.
